Welcome to Pastor Darren, Ellen and Regan!

  • October 1, 2018

September turned out to be a very special month for our Southside family.  After months of prayer from the congregation and a lot of hard work and prayer from our pulpit committee, God has blessed us with a new pastor. Pastor Darren Seiple, his wife Ellen and their daughter Regan will officially join Southside’s ministry on October 7th. We had a very busy weekend starting September 20th, first meeting Pastor Darren on Thursday night. Saturday morning we met Ellen and Regan, shared a great breakfast and spent some time getting to know Pastor Darren a little better. He brought a message to […]

Workday

  • September 1, 2018

The church congretation is made up of people with varied talents. That is what it takes to keep things running smoothly. One of the opportunities to serve is often overlooked. That is showing up for workday! There are many things you could do on a workday to help keep up the physical buildings of our church. We have two workdays each month so you now have twice the opportunites to contribute your talent. Sometimes it’s working inside setting up for a 5th Sunday fellowship, or washing windows, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning walls. Outside you can help with yard work or cleaning the  […]

Come worship with us where you will hear teaching straight out of the Bible. It won’t be long before you feel right at home as part of our church family.  This month our 5th Sunday, Day of Fellowship was another day filled with music. Once again we enjoyed the musical talents of our very own members. Check out […]

Vacation Bible School 2018

  • July 1, 2018

What a great week we had! Everyone worked really hard to make this another successful VBS and their work paid off. The ‘Super Heroes’ had a fun filled week. They learned new songs, made crafts each day, and most importantly learned about Jesus’ love for us. They talked about what it was like to go hungry, but they didn’t just talk, they brought in food to be given to Servants Heart, a ministry that delivers food to those in need. At the end of the day they enjoyed lunch before heading back to Hero Central where their parents picked them up. Thank you to […]

Mother’s Day, Getting Ready for VBS

  • June 2, 2018

As we do every year we honored mothers in May, first they were served breakfast with everyone invited to join them, then later in the morning service we recognized some of them with bouquets of flowers. At the end of the month we started getting the word out about this year’s upcoming Vacation Bible School. It took us a couple Saturdays but we saturated the area with 1000 flyers, not only about VBS but also a flyer with the weekly services. This was in an effort to help Saturate Orlando organizers get information about Jesus into all the neighborhoods in Orlando as well […]

All music service, what a blessing!

  • May 1, 2018

Each time we have a fifth Sunday fall in a month we have special church service then get together to share a fellowship lunch.  We’ve known for a long time we have some of the best cooks around. Last month we also became aware of how blessed we are to also have some of the best music talent in our very own congregation. It was a great Sunday all around.  We had someone playing the harmonica, and someone else beautifully played her flute. We all enjoyed the variety of songs the soloist sang. We don’t want to forget the only duet of […]

Spotlight – What were you doing ten years ago?

  • March 4, 2018

This month we decided to ask, “Where were you and what were you doing nine or ten years ago?”. Just to jog some memories the following pictures were taken from the 2008 and 2009 Southside picture albums. Take a look and see who was singing, eating, working or just having fun at the time.

Member Spotlight – a busy start for the new year.

  • February 1, 2018

We started 2018 off with a chili/soup cookoff on New Year’s Eve. There was plenty of both soup and chili for everyone to sample, some of the best anywhere. We send out a big thank you to all our cooks. If you were unable to find at least one you just had to have a second bowl, you just weren’t trying very hard. They were all a culinary delight. As we moved into January we welcomed back our favorite missionary, Elizabeth Ratliff, to share with us what God is doing in the prisons of Zambia, Africa. Then on the 28th of […]

Member Spotlight – Christmas and New Year’s Eve

  • January 1, 2018

Come on in and take a look at a few of our Christmas Eve pictures. It is always a blessing to spend time in God’s house, but there is something special about being there on Christmas Eve. On New Year’s Eve we were blessed by the Weaver Believer’s Survival Revival as they led us in some traditional Christmas carols as well as some songs they have written. We also had our annual chili cookoff adding soups to the menu for the first time. Next month we’ll post some of those pictures so be sure to come back then to take […]
